Why Leaders Should Be FAITHFUL To Constituents?
How can anyone, claim, to have the right to be called a leader, unless/ until, he earns it, by consistently, being, absolutely, FAITHFUL to all his stakeholders, and constituents, and, not, solely, his personal supporters, and/ or, follower, or his personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self - interest? After, over four decades, of personal involvement, in, nearly, everything related to effectively leading, from identifying and qualifying, to training, developing and consulting to thousands of actual, and/ or. potential leaders, as well as serving as a leader, on various occasions, I strongly believe, unless one holds service to his organization, and stakeholders, as a responsibility and duty, nearly, everyone - involved, suffers/ loses! Great leaders must strive to earn the trust of others, every day, nor, merely by their promises, and rhetoric, but, rather, by the quality of their service and representation, to others! With, that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and why it matters.
1. Face facts; fairness: While possessing, and maintaining a true, positive, can - do, attitude, productive leaders must face the facts, in a realistic way, without wearing rose - colored glasses! They must be ready, willing, and able to emphasize, fairness, to all, and the overall, greater good!
2. Attitude; aptitude; attention; articulate: Aligning, a consistent, positive attitude, with a relevant, well - developed, aptitude, and skill - set, permits and enhances one's ability to pay keen attention, and consider multiple possibilities, options and alternatives, with an open - mind, and proceeding, to articulate a meaningful, relevant, sustainable, motivating, inspiring message, to his stakeholders!
3. Integrity; imagination; insights; innovate; intentions: One's integrity must be absolute, especially, when doing so, may be most challenging, and a perceived, path of least resistance, seems available! He must proceed, with a relevant imagination, the abilities to innovate (when necessary or indicated), meaningful insights, and the finest of intentions!
4. Trust/ truth; tendencies; timely; time - tested: In order to earn the trust of others, a leader must consistently, tell the truth! He must have personal tendencies, towards service and representation, rather than any personal/ political agenda, and/ or, self - interest! He must have the self - confidence, instincts, and abilities, to take well - considered, timely actions (avoid procrastination), and develop a keen knowledge and understanding of the time - tested, knowledge and expertise, in order to avoid repeating the same mistakes, over, and over - again!
5. Humane; healing; head/ heart: It is essential, for real leaders, to understand, they serve and represent people, and must proceed, in a humane manner! Their primary approach must be healing, and they must align their finest emotional and logical components, in a head/ heart balance!
6. Future; fruition; fate: When one emphasizes current, perceived problems, rather than, seeking viable solutions, in a relevant, sustainable way, both, at - present, and into the future, his potential to bring his strategy, to fruition, is enhanced! Leadership should mean taking personal responsibility, for the best, possible fate, for this group, and leaving the organization, stronger, when his term is over, than, when he found - it!
7. Uses; useful; usual/ unusual: Seek to introduce useful approaches, with multiple uses, which, have the best potential to address, both, the usual, as well as unusual challenges!
8. Listen; learn; leading: The best leader, consistently, effectively listens, and learns, from every conversation, and experience, to become more capable of leading others, in the right direction!
If you don't want to be, consistently, FAITHFUL, to your stakeholders, and organization, you probably shouldn't seek to become a leader! Are you up the tasks and responsibilities?
